    Description

Artisan Crafted Australian White Opal Sterling Silver Ring (Size 6) and Pendant TGW 1.50 cts
Make a fashion statement whenever you step out with this spectacular set of Australian white opal ring and pendant. Opal comes from the Greek word 'opallios' meaning to see a change of color. The Australian white opal cradles a rainbow of flickering color spheres. Reflections of colors dance about with every angle and change of light. The artisan crafted jewels are fashioned in sterling silver with exceptional metal work. If you are going out for a romantic date or just for a dinner with family, the ring and pendant will steal the spotlight for you. To be on the safe side, clean your opals using a mesh rag dipped in mild detergent added to warm water. Never soak or immerse your opal jewelry. Natural properties of mined gemstones offer a slight difference in color saturation, hue, and tone. Gemstone images may not always capture these slight differences.
FACTS: Opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
There are two broad classes of opal: precious and common. Precious opal displays play-of-color (iridescence), common opal does not. Play-of-color is defined as "a pseudochromatic optical effect resulting in flashes of colored light from certain minerals, as they are turned in white light."
The internal structure of precious opal causes it to diffract light, resulting in play-of-color. Depending on the conditions in which it formed, opal may be transparent, translucent or opaque and the background color may be white, black or nearly any color of the visual spectrum. Black opal is considered to be the rarest, whereas white, gray and green are the most common.
The town of Coober Pedy in South Australia is a major source of opal. The world's largest and most valuable gem opal "Olympic Australis" was found in August 1956. The Mintabie Opal Field located about 250 km (160 mi) north west of Coober Pedy has also produced large quantities of crystal opal and the rarer black opal.
Andamooka in South Australia is also a major producer of matrix opal, crystal opal, and black opal.
