    Description

Early 1900's "Perfect Handle" brand screwdriver (14" long") made by the H. D. Smith Co, Plantsville, CT.
    The Company
was founded in 1855 and operated as a foundry and merchant drop-forger.
After 1900, tool production became an important part of the company's business, and their best known product was a line of tools with riveted wooden handles sold under the "Perfect Handle" brand. The tools supplied with "Perfect" handles included screwdrivers, pipe and nut wrenches, open-end wrenches, and even a valve lifter.
Condition - Very Good used antique condition.  This screwdriver has been working all its life and still, the wood-clad "perfect handle" is solid and shows no signs of deterioration.  As expected for an antique screwdriver, there are deposits on the metal shank.  All in all, the screwdriver is in very good used condition.  A great antique tool to add to your collection.  Please examine the photos carefully to assess the condition.  Ask questions and request additional photos so that you have all the information necessary to make an informed purchase decision.
