Description
You are looking at a used, for parts only, Motorized Bench Center Indexing Fixture. This unit has not been restored, it will need to be cleaned up. The motor does run, however, I am listing this item as not working because it will need a cord wired up to it. You will have to get your own cord with a ground to wire . There are some small wires that are short that come out of the motor with wire nuts on them where the original cord was wired. These will have to be checked and tested by the buyer. There is also a small bracket with a hole in the bottom that you can mount your own toggle switch to turn the unit on and off. This unit does not come with a toggle switch. The motor is a 115 volt AC Motor. It has a gear reduction motor as you can see with a right angle drive. I did turn the motor on, it does run. A belt is included with this, but this unit may also need a new belt. On the largest pulley that you see, the driven pulley on the center, with that running, it runs about 71 rpm and on the middle pulley it runs about 96 rpm. These are just approximate values. The motor has a 10:1 ratio. It also has an indexing plate which has 72 notches on the plate. There is also a spring loaded mechanism which allows you to index. The indexing finger does work, but may need to be lubricated. The pulley that is driven rotates around the center so the part can be driven between dead centers. This is the way that this unit is meant to be used. I have not checked the accuracy of this item to see how accurate it will grind. I also do not know how accurate the centers are to the base. The spindle has about .014" end play with nothing mounted between centers. The approximate maximum swing of this unit is 7-1/4" diameter. The head stock is movable with 4 t-bolts that you can loosen and tighten where you want it as well as a tailstock that is also movable. There is approximately 5-3/4 inches between the centers at the point you see right now with the centers in the position they are in. The tailstock center is spring loaded, and can retract it by hand about 1/4". The center in the tailstock will no doubt need to be redressed or reground as it has been used. The one on the headstock might need to be reground as well but it still looks usable. The base appears to be ground and it has the t-slots milled in it the whole length of the bar. The approximate length of the bar is 14 inches. There are some numbers stamped on the one end and initials of probably the company that owned this at one time. I do not know the actual brand name of this unit. I have no way to test the accuracy of this unit. I did put a indicator on the dead center in the headstock and turned it with the indexing fixture open and it is within .0005 runout. Please note that the head stock and tail stock will be removed from the base plate and shipped together. This item will need to be reassembled after buyer receives.
