Description
A lovely group 4 size Comoy's pre Cadogan, probably 1960s, A beautiful oblique straight grain that emanates from a patch of birdseye on the left of the heel of pipe. (see photo)The stamping "Comoy's sandblast" is clear, the very small stamping "made in London England" is faint, the shape "292" is clear. This pipe presents as having been carefully smoked, the floor of the bowl is sound, no wood loss indicating the pipe has not been over smoked and generally kept dry. There are no dings, the shorelines and edges still crisp, but there is an indication of having been buffed at some time, some stain taken away on the logo flat of the shank. (see photo) The pipe was expertly reamed leaving a base cake. Upon acquiring there was no odor, it was smoked a couple of times with non aromatic flake, so there is a faint odor of tobacco.
The original stem is missing, but comes with a new lucite acyrilic stem.
