Original, vintage W.H. Clay Ltd. Split Nut Screwdriver
Very nice piece of WWII and British military history here. The "Broad Arrow" or "crow's foot" stamp denotes that this tool was manufactured for military use. As you can see, it clearly reads 1944. Although flat head screwdrivers can be altered and made into split nut screwdrivers with some grinding work, the "bottom" of the "U" does NOT show any grind marks. Thus, the split nut make of the drive is original.
Overall, a beautiful tool... a great patina! A great addition to military tool collection!
